Life in Davis: part XVI

So, after being a bit tired of philosophy profs telling me that I should 'try to satisfy your interest in philosophy in an undergraduate class' and then being a bit bored in the undergraduate class, I decided to try one more time to take a graduate philosophy of science course, with a philosopher of physics, Professor Paul Teller. So I go and talk to him in person, and he tells me that he would love to have me in his class, and gives me a bit of reading to do in order to prepare. So my faith is restored. And he also brought up the possibility of reading a manuscript with him, to check the science, which would be great for me. It's on quantum field theory, something I can do, although I don't quite understand what I am doing. So I'm happy about that. And school is totally hard, but fun right now. I'm writing a paper on the problem of time in quantum gravity for my general relativity class, which is basically exploring different roles time can play in these different theories, problems that arise in combining GR and quantum.
Happy thanksgiving. I've got a lot of homework to do. How is your sister, Liz? Wendy and Mark are here, and Bethany and Jared, and Adam and Vic hung out a lot. So that was nice. Probably won't happen again for a while, all of us together like that. My family is crazy active. We all went running a couple times together, and played a bunch of sports on Friday, tennis for a while and then this long basketball game. And today we went on a 10 mile hike up this huge mountain. I am so sore. Mary, you can also be thankful your family doesn't put you through boot camp when you come home for thanksgiving. Okay. Goodnight everyone.

... being able to afford to do things I enjoy
... the space my family has given me
... roommates I get along with (for the most part)
... itunes downloads
... commercial free satellite radio
... puppies
... my down comforter
... that God has given me something to look forward to in Jesus

Since Mary posted about World Jump Day . . .

Here is something similar but much more exciting! Read about it here!

The Event

WHO? All Men and Women, you and everyone
you know.

WHERE? Everywhere in the world, but especially in countries with weapons of mass destruction.

WHEN?
Winter Solstice Day - Friday, December 22nd,
at the time of your choosing, in the place of your choosing and with as much privacy as you choose.

WHY? To effect positive change in the energy field of the Earth through input of the largest possible surge of human energy a Synchronized Global Orgasm. There are two more US fleets heading for the Persian Gulf with anti-submarine equipment that can only be for use against Iran, so the time to change Earth’s energy is NOW!

So, what do you guys think? Do something good for the world.
